ARAI Hydrogen Mobility Project

In pursuit of sustainable mobility, the Kerala government, through ANERT, is set to deploy hydrogen-powered vehicles on a pilot basis for long-haul mobility applications. Hydrogen technology is particularly suited for heavy haul applications, and Kerala will be the first in India to pilot both fuel-cell and internal combustion engine-based hydrogen trucks. To support this initiative, two hydrogen refuelling stations will be developed along the state highways, complementing the recently announced Hydrogen Highways initiative by MoRTH.

The estimated cost for the pilot is ₹57 crore. ARAI has recently issued LOI for the project to ANERT, but with reduced funding, which ANERT has requested to be revised.

Partners with ANERT: BPCL, KSRTC, Ashok Leyland, Greenstat
