ANERT had concentrated on providing clean power to the unelectrified areas in Kerala, right from its inception. Initially this was through improved chulhas (cookstoves) and standalone photovoltaic devices like lanterns, home/domestic lighting systems, TV power packs and street lights. Later on, in 2001, the project of installing standalone solar photovoltaic power plants was taken up, which inspired the Government of India programme of RVEP (Remote Village Electrification Programme). ANERT continues to install solar power plants in remote unelectrified hamlets.
Some of the programmes are:
Hybrid solar-wind power plants for remote hamlets, 2022
Solar power plants for remote hamlets during, 2020-22
Total electrification programme, 2017
RVEP Programme, 2008-2010
Solar electrification of remote SC/ST colonies in forest areas, 2001-03
