We are passing through an era of maximum exploitation of non-conventional energy sources. Solar and wind energy have started to be used effectively. A new field of employment opens up through these inexhaustible sources of energy. Kerala Academy for Skill Excellence (KASE), the state skill development mission, and ANERT (Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology), the state nodal agency of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, are launching the first Center of Excellence in this sector in Thiruvananthapuram with the aim of skill development in this sector.
The state has targeted an installed capacity of 1000 MW of solar power by 2022 under the Energy Kerala Mission. Training programs are designed keeping in mind the need of technical skilled persons to achieve the target. Future energy crisis can be overcome only if natural energy resources are efficiently utilized.
Training programs have been envisaged in various fields including axial energy, electric vehicle technology and installation of solar panels. In addition to theory classes, practical training and technical skills required for employment in industrial enterprises are also emphasized. The courses are supervised by an academic committee consisting of technical experts in the field of nuclear energy. Through this, the candidates are aimed to directly participate and get employment in the growing green energy job opportunities within and outside the country.
The MoU for this project was signed by Hon. Minister of Electricity Shri MM Mani and Hon. Minister of Employment and Skills Shri. In the presence of TP Ramakrishna, the Kerala Academy for Skill Excellence and Award was handed over on 03.02.2021 at the Chamber of the Minister of Power.
